Hi, you've found the Bottleport, a patent pending hydration solution for small sailboats and other watercraft! I invented the Bottleport after getting tired of losing water bottles over the side of my Laser or having them tangled up in the sheet at the bottom of the cockpit. 

The Bottleport screws into Viking and Ronstan 5" inspection ports with the same watertight seal as the original lid. It provides a way to hold a drink container that is totally secure, out of your way and still immediately accessible with one hand...FINALLY. It works great with the Fat Bag, too!

    • DEC 22 2008: The variety of boats using the Bottleport keeps expanding.  Bottleports are currently installed on classes including Star, Dragon, Colgate 26, Sunfish, various Hobie Cats and more.  You can put a Bottleport anywhere you have 9" of clearance beneath it.

    • DEC 20 2008: Just in time for holiday shopping, KO Sailing on the Texas Gulf Coast is now carrying the Bottleport.  KO has a very nice website, check it out.  Some good sailing coming out of the shop--John Kolius just won the Melges 24 Atlantic Coast championship.  Any room on the Melges for a few Bottleports, John?

    • DEC 1 2008: Bottleport is going Down Under!  Thanks to Grant Alderson at Perth's Sail Power Marine, Aussie sailors can buy the Bottleport and the 5" Viking ports without the cost of individual overseas shipping.  With Australian summer bringing a very busy West Coast sailing season, I think the Bottleport will do very well for Grant.  In news closer to home, Ron Lane at Fastlane Sailing in San Diego is the newest Bottleport dealer.  Mission Bay has an active dinghy racing scene and Ron is the local shop for Mission Bay Yacht Club and a number of others. It's a great shop, too, check it out when in SD...

    • NOV 26 2008: Buy the Bottleport at Vanguard Sailing Center in Costa Mesa, one of the three U.S. flagship stores for LaserPerformance.  I was in the shop the other day and was happy to see the 5" Viking port installed on the back deck of a V15, perfect for the Bottleport. Also, Cameron at the shop says that the FJs frequently have ports installed on the cockpit walls below the chainplates.  It looks like this location has the 9" depth necessary to fit the Bottleport and vertical installation works great.  I will give aFREE BOTTLEPORT to anyone who wants to try this in an FJ or 420 and send me photos and a report!

    • NOV 24 2008: From deep within the old seaplane factory now known as The Dinghy Shop comes new information and a great offer.  THE INFO: TDS's Jim Koehler tried the Bottleport in various inspection ports and reports that it will fit the Sea Dog, but not the RWO.  THE OFFER: To make hydrating by Bottleport even easier, if you purchase a Bottleport and inspection port from The Dinghy Shop, Jim will install the port in your boat FOR FREE.  No labor costs and a professional job.  Just call 631 264 0005 for an appointment. I wonder if you could load your boat into one of these and taxi right into the factory?

    • NOV 20 2008: Finally got someone in Australia to try the Bottleport with the Nairn inspection port (see Oct 19 note below) and unfortunately it does not fit.  It does fit the Ronstan port perfectly so Aussie buyers have that as an option.

    • NOV 14 2008: Bottleport now selling at The Boat Locker in Westport CT.  My wife grew up there and we look forward to seeing the shop and meeting Scott when we visit for Christmas this year.

    • NOV 12 2008: Big news this week is that the LaserPerformance flagship store in Chicago is now stocking the Bottleport.  I had been waiting to contact LP until the Bottleport caught on a little more but they beat me to it and contacted me, saying that "it is an excellent complimentary product to ours (the Laser)."

    • NOV 10 2008: Prize winners at Cedar Point's frostbite regatta this weekend will receive Bottleports and will no doubt be filling them with travel mugs of hot coffee.

    • NOV 8 2008: Bottleport now selling at three new retailers!  Right here in the SoCal area (and on their website) get it from Art & Tiffany at Sailing Pro Shop.  In Arizona, Mark at Desert Wind Sailboats now carries it. On Long Island, NY, you can buy the Bottleport from Jim & Susan at The Dinghy Shop.  Their shop is located in a 1930s seaplane factory right on the water and gets my vote for coolest location.

    • NOV 3 2008: Thanks APS for the great placement on your home page as the "hot new product."  Retailers, I have a counter display that I'm emailing you about to see if you can use it.  Tells at at glance exactly what the Bottleport is and does.

    • OCT 25 2008  I'm happy to add George and Patrick at West Coast Sailing to the growing list of retailers carrying the Bottleport.  I'm happy that all my favorite places are carrying it!  BOTTLEPORT TIP: Like any plastic parts, spraying some McLube on the threads of the Bottleport helps it screw down nice and easy into the port.

    • OCT 19 2008 More port compatibility news: It looks like the Bottleport may fit the Nairns 5" port, which is another port sold Down Under.  It looks identical to the Viking and the Ronstan.  Will keep you posted on this.

    • OCT 17 2008 Great news for Aussies and maybe others...The Bottleport fits perfectly into the Ronstan 5" inspection port #PNP97.  I can't explain how or why the Ronstan should have exactly the same thread pattern, size, O-ring, etc. as the Viking port, but it's good news for countries where the Ronstan is used instead of the Viking...
